Introducing Our New Creative Haven: Studio 321 at the Torpedo Factory Art Center We are thrilled to announce the opening of our new studio and gallery space, nestled within the historic walls of the Torpedo Factory Art Center on the third floor, Studio 321. This remarkable venue, once a World War I munitions plant, has been transformed into a vibrant hub for artists and art enthusiasts alike. The Torpedo Factory Art Center, established in 1974, stands as a testament to the enduring power of creativity, housing the nation’s largest collection of publicly accessible working artist studios under one roof. In this inspiring environment, we are invigorated to continue our artistic journey, crafting works that resonate with passion and innovation. Our gallery showcases a curated selection of our creations, each piece a reflection of our dedication to the arts. Visitors are warmly invited to explore our collection, engage with the creative process, and perhaps find a piece that speaks to their own artistic sensibilities. Being part of the Torpedo Factory Art Center community has ignited our creative spirit, offering endless opportunities for collaboration and growth. We are honored to contribute to this rich tapestry of artistry and to share our vision with all who walk through these storied halls. We eagerly anticipate your visit to Studio 321, where art comes to life, and inspiration knows no bounds.
Shaping Futures: Our Journey as Adjunct Professors at UMES The Spring 2025 semester marked the beginning of an exciting new chapter for us as adjunct professors at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES). Stepping into the classroom and studio, we were filled with anticipation, eager to share our passion for ceramics with a new generation of artists. What we didn’t expect was how deeply inspiring this journey would be—not just for our students, but for us as well. Their creativity, dedication, and relentless curiosity have enriched our own artistic perspectives in ways we never imagined. UMES, nestled in the heart of Princess Anne, Maryland, is a distinguished historically Black land-grant research university. Renowned for its commitment to academic excellence and cultural diversity, UMES offers a wealth of programs that foster innovation and creativity. The Department of Fine Arts, in particular, stands out for its unique offerings, including the only Sequential Arts degree in Maryland, which encompasses comic book art and computer graphics. This innovative curriculum, combined with passionate faculty and a focus on hands-on learning, makes it one of the most respected art schools in the state. Our ceramics classes take place in the state-of-the-art Art & Technology Center, a space where traditional artistry meets modern technology. The center provides an environment that encourages students to explore and expand their creative boundaries. Each four-hour, nonstop class session seems to fly by as we delve into the intricacies of ceramics. The dedication and creativity our students bring to the studio are truly remarkable. Their eagerness to learn and experiment serves as a constant reminder of the transformative power of education and art. Witnessing their growth and the evolution of their unique artistic voices is a reward beyond measure. As adjunct professors, we are honored to contribute to the rich tapestry of UMES’s academic community. The university’s emphasis on blending traditional art forms with new technologies aligns perfectly with our teaching philosophy. This synergy not only enhances the learning experience for our students but also invigorates our own artistic practices. Looking ahead, we are thrilled to continue this incredible journey into the Fall 2025 semester. With each new class, we remain committed to sharing our knowledge, inspiring young artists, and pushing the boundaries of creative expression. As we prepare for another semester at UMES, our passion for teaching burns brighter than ever, and we can’t wait to return to the classroom, ready to shape and be shaped by the artists of the future.
MUSZ Studio is a creative collaboration founded by two sculptors and ceramic artists, Salih Zeki Sayar and Murat Sener, who share a passion for crafting immersive, imaginative worlds through form and material. Each piece begins as a seed of an idea—sometimes a fleeting thought, sometimes a pressing question—and through our collaborative process, it takes shape in an ongoing dialogue between vision, hand, and matter. We seek to dissolve boundaries between mediums, allowing each concept to guide the form it requires. Our work often navigates contrasts—smooth and rugged, delicate and bold—but beyond these surfaces, we aim to ignite curiosity and provoke thought. MUSZ Studio is not just where objects are made; it is a space where stories breathe, shaped by hands and set into permanence, ready to resonate with those who encounter them. Clay is our foundation, but it is merely a starting point. In our world, the elements converge, and from their union, new beings are born—enigmatic characters, guardians, and travelers of imagined realms. They emerge from fire, traverse water, and carry the spirit of earth and air. These figures become the storytellers of our practice, embodying resilience, vulnerability, and hope. Through them, we give voice to the invisible and power to the ordinary, reweaving familiar truths into new narratives. Each creation invites the viewer to step beyond reality and wander into a world where the impossible feels within reach. Our artistic journey is one of ceaseless exploration. While our hands shape objects, our minds sculpt ideas—ideas that reflect the world we inhabit and question the future we are building. We embrace mixed media not as mere technique but as a philosophy; it allows us to break free from constraints and let the concept dictate its own form. We are acutely aware of the weight that art carries—the power to unsettle, to inspire, and to move people to action. This responsibility drives us to look deeper, to research, observe, and engage with our surroundings. Our work aims to be a catalyst—a spark that ignites reflection and encourages collective movement. We believe that art can transcend aesthetics; it can challenge, disrupt, and awaken. With each piece, we seek to craft not just an object but an experience—an invitation to see, feel, and ultimately, to act. Through MUSZ Studio, we aspire to create more than art; we strive to weave connections, stimulate conversations, and contribute to the pulse of change.
